Pearl Mbewe reflects on divorce from Sello Maake kaNcube: “I looked good, but my soul was gone”

A year after officially parting ways with legendary actor Sello Maake kaNcube, Pearl Mbewe has opened up about how the end of their marriage reshaped her and taught her to find peace within herself.

Their four-year union ended publicly and dramatically, with both sides trading accusations at the time,but today, Pearl says what she sees is growth more than pain.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, 2 November 2025, Pearl posted a throwback photo of them together along with a current selfie, revealing just how much has changed emotionally since then.

She admitted that the person she was 12 months ago was still angry and reactive.

“12 months ago, I would have written a silly and stupid caption. Maar what a ride it has been, media speculation, my career went up and down,” she reflected.

Pearl shared that the biggest breakthrough in her healing journey came from realising that her resentment was never truly targeted at Sello himself.

“After a while you realise that you don’t hate the person, but you hated the situation. I would look at my pictures and realise that my soul was gone, but I looked good! The lesson to myself, live your truth, you are possibly an impossible woman to handle,” she wrote.

She admitted she had sat in bitterness longer than she should have, but she has now reached a level of peace she once didn’t think was possible.

“I was bitter for a long time, I’m possibly still am, but until when? Life will keep going on!” she added.

Pearl also teased new beginnings, revealing that she is preparing to launch her own fashion brand, Pearl MbW.

Social media users praised her for her honesty and emotional accountability, noting how relatable her reflection was and saluting her courage to move forward gracefully after such a public breakdown of a marriage.
